Race to Alaska
Race to Alaska:
Racers gathered this week and prepped today in Port Townsend WA for the "R2AK" in which human and wind powered boasts (or a combination of the two) compete in a race to Alaska that may take some 10-12 days and others nearly 3-4 weeks.
HERE: Michael Dougherty, standing, and Sameer Rayachoti, sitting at pedaling station, do a quick test cruise in the Port Townsend harbor. (Also in boat is Matt Johnson, who will sail the first leg with them tomorrow to Victoria BC) Their catamaran has two pedaling stations also, for additional power when there's low wind.
