Race to Alaska
Race to Alaska:
Racers gathered this week and prepped today in Port Townsend WA for the "R2AK" in which human and wind powered boasts (or a combination of the two) compete in a race to Alaska that may take some 10-12 days and others nearly 3-4 weeks.
HERE: Racer ALAN HARTMAN, 47, of Homer Alaska, will sail and row his Triak trimaran and knows he may not finish for a month. It's an adventure. He is holding the 3 beaver pelts which, along with a seal tooth, he traded in lieu of paying an entrance fee for the race. A big guy, he jokes that it takes "bacon grease and a shoehorn" to be able to get into the boat.
